FAQ & Resources

Does Medicare cover any part of these expenses?

No, Medicare does not cover what they consider “non-skilled” services. Medicare will cover your Home Nursing, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Visits for a limited time. Senior Solutions is qualified provider for most LTC insurance companies, ensuring you get reimbursed for your expenses.

Does your agency provide transportation services to its clients for errand and doctor visits?

Yes, Senior Solutions provides transportation to appointments or errand and even “outings”. Our caregivers are licensed drivers with clean DMV backgrounds.

Am I obligated to continue services for any set period of time?

Senior Solutions does not lock anyone into a set period of time for service. We follow the directions and recommendations of your PCP (primary care physician) and work with your family to create a plan that everyone is comfortable with.

Can I hope to find a qualified aide who speaks our native language?

The East Bay has a diverse wealth of caregivers who speak all different languages. The case managers at Senior Solutions are very sensitive to our seniors and honor all requests to find the perfect match between client and caregiver.

What if my aide gets sick or is temporarily not available?

This is probably the most frustrating part of being ill at home. We have had clients and the same caregivers working together for years! Senior Solutions always has a plan for illness and vacation time.

What is the difference between live-in and shift care?

Some clients only need a few hours of care a day. They may have help at home or live with a family member who can be there with the senior. Live in caregivers stay in the home with the senior so they are available to assist all day. Of course they sleep at night, but will be available to help at any time. This is the safest plan to employ when a senior first comes home from the hospital, recovering from surgery, or dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia issues. Safety is our first priority.

How do you train your care givers?

Our caregivers are trained, personal nursing aides with experience. All references are checked and verified to ensure you get the best and safest care possible. Caregivers are trained by the client’s Physical and Occupational Therapists if needed to achieve the at home goals.

Do you provide senior services to those in nursing homes or assisted living facilities?

Over the past 16 years, not only have our caregivers provided “private duty” care in the Valley Care hospitals, but also Kaiser Hospitals and Skilled Nursing or Rehab hospitals. Some of your local facilities have also used our caregivers to augment their own staff. The care managers work well with and are familiar with our friends and neighbors in the health care community. We all work together for provide the best care possible for your loved one.
